‘Lane with Church and Telegraph Pole’
8 x 8 in / 20.3 x 20.3 cm Acrylic on Canvas 2014
£140
This narrow lane high in the old town shows examples of the architecture found there.
The shape of the church roof provides a focus for the view down the street and the eye is
led into the picture by the telegraph wire. The installation of electricity and the telegraph
wires to the island inspired Leonard Cohen to write the song 'Bird on a Wire'. He wrote it in
the house nearby which he bought in the 1960's.
